Seighford fishing report

Week ending 23/10/11

Trout Fishing.

After another stocking into the trout lakes anglers have really started to catch with nearly every angler taking their limits. Lures have been fishing well this week with the fresh fish stirring up the old stock, White/Green, Black/Green and black have been the top colours. The water levels are not full yet and with the sun still shinning there is still some weed around but some anglers have started to use intermediates to good effect.

Ross Hughes took the best fish of the week a fine fully finned Rainbow weighing 11lb. Ross was fishing a floating line and a long 6lb leader over on the Railway pool with a Black/Green lure, The fight lasted for around 10 minutes with Ross ending up on his backing more than once. Regular anglers Jock and Kev had a great mornings sport on Sunday taking 5 fish each up to 6lb, They both fished a Green/White lure on a floating line to tempt the fish.

With the cooler weather regular stockings will be going in now with some big fish up to the magical 20lb mark. Both lakes are fishing well with the Railway Pool getting fished more because of the strong winds blowing into the main spots on the Swan Neck. As from the Monday 31st October the gates will be opening at 8am until Dusk every day. Tight Lines and see you soon.

Coarse Fishing.

The Fishing has been up and down this week with some cold nights putting the fish off until later in the day. Fishing in deeper water has been the best tactics with either the feeder or the float. Best areas have been all over the lakes from 6m out to the drop offs on the island. A variety of baits have produced from small bollies, Pellet to maggots and worms. Maggots will be the best bet from now on because if the larger fish aren't feeding then you will still catch the silvers on small baits.

Young Lewis Dutton had a great session on the Horseshoe this week catching a fine bag of carp and roach for 17lb. Lewis from Stoke fished the rod and line with a waggler to tempt the carp and he even had his personal best fish in the net a fine 4lb mirror carp, Sweetcorn and mainly maggots were the killing bait.

No Matches are booked again for the next week so all pools will be open for day ticket anglers. Don't forget the offer in Angling Times to get a buy one get one free available any day midweek. Tight Lines and see you soon.
