Seighford fishing report

week ending 12/09/11

Trout Fishing.

With the weather getting colder and finally some rain the trout have started to feed again with the water cooling down and the weed dying off. Weed cutting will be finished on the swan neck pool this week and a fresh stock of fish will go in ready for the winter season while the railway pool will be ready the following weekend with the lake filling up nicely.

Anglers have been finding the wind quite hard but in between the gust they have been catching some fish with a few big rainbows amongst them. Local angler from Stafford Jock took 5 fish this week on a mixture of flies from small nymph's to Damsels. Jock kept trying different flies and every time he change colour or size he would get a fish or a chance. Mr Bennett had a good afternoon as well taking 3 fish on a daddy long legs fished dry.

Fishing should be back to its best next week with all the work going on and the fresh fish going in will stir up the resident fish. For more information just call the lodge on 01785 282967. Tight lines.

Coarse Fishing.

Fishing has been great on the Old pool with lots of good bags coming out from a variety of pegs. The wind has been a big factor this week making anglers fish different pegs and on the feeder rather than the pole. Pegs 16 to 21 have had the wind off the back all week so has been a favorite spot for the anglers and also the fish with every peg producing silvers and carp. The trees have fished well this week with good cover fish have been feeding hard close into the bank.

Jim Lawton from Creswell had a great day off peg 9 probably the hardest peg on the lake, Jim swapped between his float rod and feeder to catch a smashing bag of carp around the 50lb mark. Jim used small yellow bollies on the feeder just off the island and float fished luncheon meat close in to the Lilly pads.

The water will start to fill up now and the fishing should stay good with the fish feeding all over the lake. The horseshoe is also worth a days fishing with the lake holding alot of silver fish the lake should fish well right through the winter. No matches are booked for a while now on the lakes so come down and give us a go. Tight lines and see you soon.
