PRESS RELEASE
week ending 7/6/09
Fly Fishing
Well the fish just keep on coming out of the trout lakes even in this mixed up weather. Anglers are catching well and catching some big fish as well with fish up to the 8lb mark coming out. It's still the small imitative patterns which have been most productive; flies like Diawl Bachs, Buzzers, Damsels and dries taking the majority of the fish. Local angler Mr A Edge had a fine few hours on the railway pool taking 6 fish up to 5lb on small nymphs and 1 on the dries. Fishing on the Railway pool is really good at the moment with both corners of the lake producing fish while on the Swans Neck pool the fish have wanted static flies as Ian proved by taking 7 rainbows on a submerged hopper.
Coarse Fishing
Peg 1 has taken some beating this week with anglers catching great bags of carp from it all week 80lb being the best taken on the pole and corn. Larger carp have started to show with fish up to 13lb getting caught and also tench to 5lb so hopefully these bigger fish have finished spawning and getting there heads down feeding again. Pole fishing with corn and maggots has been consistent all week catching small carp and the silver fish where as the feeder has produced well of pegs 3,4,5 and 6 later on in the day. No matches are on this week and the fishing picking up all the time now is the time to give us a go and bag up! Hopefully see you down here soon and Tight Lines.
