PRESS RELEASE
SEIGHFORD LAKES - FISHING REPORT TO 5TH APRIL 2009
Seighford Lakes opened for business on 4th April in beautiful Spring weather. The anglers enjoyed the hospitality of the fishery and the superb sport available.Coarse Fishing
Most of the action took place on the Old Pool with carp up to 8lb, some lovely bream and surprises in the form of tench and one specimen crucian carp.
Tony Berrisford of Lichfield fishing corn on the pole caught a 60lb bag of carp up to 6lb, a number of bream to 21/2lb and a personal best crucian of 2lb 6oz.
Prospects are good with the warmer water temperatures sure to bring the carp well on to the feed.
Fly Fishing
Fishing opened with a bang on the crystal clear Swan Neck pool, where the fishing was really too easy. Rainbows from 2lb upwards were all too eager to grab any fly put in front of them.
The nearby Railway Pool fished well also, and was perhaps slightly more of a fishing challenge. The pool also threw up a real surprise in the form of a 5lb pike to a fritz cat's whisker.
Chris Price of Tamworth caught 36 fish, and commented that his arm was killing him!! Andy Taylor had a number of 8-10lb fish from Railway, and the largest fish caught was 91/2lb.
Fishery Owner Phil Dixon said
"I am delighted that coarse and fly anglers enjoyed themselves at Seighford. We pride ourselves in offering excellent sport and a warm welcome. Sport is certain to be good over Easter."
