PRESS RELEASE

week ending  5/7/09

Fly Fishing

The areator has been on at the start of the week which made fishing very good as the trout were always on the move and feeding hard.  Plenty of fish have come out this week mainly over on the back of the railway pool around the areator as alot of fish have been drawn to it.  A varity of flies have been workin from Dries too pulling Lures,  Mr James from Stoke had a fine day catching 6 fish up to 8lb off the railway pool,  Mr James started on a small black lure after taking a couple of fish he changed to a small Hares Ear Nymph before catching on a sunk rubber legged daddy.  Anglers have been saying that every time they change the fly within the first 10 casts they will get an offer; as if the fish are wiseing up to the same flies.  Evenings and early mornings have been producing the most fish but if the hot weather comes back then the aerator will be turned on.

Coarse Fishing

The Old Pool is really fishing well at the moment and from all over the lake not just on some pegs.  Plenty of bream have been coming out this week around the 4lb mark with the odd bigger one amounst them,  Tench are still feeding well with the best a fine 7lb 2oz taken off peg 10.  Anglers have been catching big bags of carp with some double figure fish popping up; 13lb common was the best carp this week.  A lot of fish have started to feed well in the margins now so fishing under your feet or down the sides has been very productive;  Maggots have been catching plenty of smaller bream and the silver fish but the bigger bags have been coming out on pellets, Corn, worm and meat.  These fish have really come on the feed and the water has coloured up nicely so fishing should be great now and plenty of fish will get caught.

Hope to see you all here soon Tight Lines  Phil Dixon
