PRESS RELEASE
SEIGHFORD LAKES - FISHING REPORT - 19-4-09
A week of generally settled weather, but some cold nights which suit the rainbows better than the carp and bream.
Coarse Fishing
Best fish of the week was a 10lb common off the Old Pool. More quality tench and bream have given good sport, and as the water continues to warm up sport will get hotter.
There have unfortunately been soom fatalities amongst small silver fish. The Environment Agency are certain that this was caused by net damage suffered at stocking. The fish supplier accepts the blame, and as a real bonus for Seighford has delivered another 1,000+ small carp which have gone into the Old Pool.
Trout Fishing
The increasing number of anglers continue to enjoy consistent sport on both Swan Neck and Railway Pool. Although the usual lures will still work, anglers using buzzers and dries are catching consistently. Mr. Sinclair had the best bag of the week catching 34 fish, mostly off the Railway Pool. The first of the year's hawthorn fly are appearing, and with some warm, settled weather in the offing the fish will soon switch on to them seasonal bonanza.Fishery Owner Phil Dixon
says "My customers enjoyed some superb sport over Easter. With the new stocking of carp, and the emergence of the hawthorn fly it promises to be another exciting week at Seighford. I look forward to welcoming you to my fishery".
