Seighford fishing report
week ending 18/5/09
Trout fishing
The weather hasn't been bothering the trout this week at Seighford with plenty of big catches still coming out on a varity of methods. Mike Fletcher had a cracking few hours sport on both trout lakes taking 15 fish all off the surface on the F fly. Ian Winfield all the way from Derby also had great sport taking a fine bag of fish up to the 8lb mark on Buzzers and Dries. Fish have been moving well in the Swan Neck and dries and small nymphes have been the best tactics while over in the railway the smaller flies have been workin well but so have the lures. If the weather settles down then the sport will only get better as the trout will really start feeding on the naturals which will be hatching off.
Coarse Fishing
Well what can i say the water has really clouded up and the fish are well on the feed with plenty of cracking bags coming off. Red Maggot, corn and paste have been taking a lot of fish whether after the smaller stuff on the pole or the better carp and bream, which have seemed to be coming out better on the feeder to the island. Tench to 6lb have come out this week and carp to 10lb with plenty of small carp building bags which would take match weights to around 50lb. Open matches are being planned for the old pool at Seighford so just keep your eye on the web site and the papers as it will be run on a first come first serve basis.
Fishery owner Phil Dixon says
"I am really happy the way the lakes have started and the coarse fish have really begain to feed hard despite the bad weather, hopefully the open matches will be busy and im sure we will see some big bags coming off.
