Seighford fishing report
week ending 11/10/09
Trout Fishing.
The sport this week on the trout lakes has been fantastic with every angler catching fish with the majority well over the 3lb mark. Fish in the railway pool have finally started to spread out and are getting caught around the lake now, plans are to add two fishing platforms at the far end of the lake in the reeds so anglers can cover the fish no matter which way the wind blows or how strong. Fish up to 10lb have come out this week with local angler Bob Fitzpatrick taking a lovely fully finned 10lb 4oz rainbow on a small black buzzer out of the Swan neck pool. A variety of fly patterns have been working with a small blob pulled taking a lot of fish on the front lake while Daddy long legs, buzzers and Damsels have fished well on the Railway pool. Try not to fish to deep as the fish are looking up and are holding very high in the water, if the weather cools down you might need to slow down the retrieve and fish a bit deeper. The lakes are available for club matches all the way through the winter just contact the lodge for details 01785 282967. Tight Lines Phil Dixon.
Coarse Fishing.
The coarse fishing here at Seighford has been fairly steady all week, with mixed bags coming off. Local angler Rich had a good bag of Carp on Monday evening, he caught fish to 8lb using paste fished 10 meters out on the pole on peg 22. His fishing companion Kelvin fished two pegs down on Peg 2, he caught around 30/40lb of Carp and a bonus Tench of around the 6lb mark. Kelvin hooked all of his fish from underneath an over hanging tree around 6 meters to his right, like Rich he used paste and fed the fishery pellet.
The Old Pool will be closed on Saturday 17th October, only,For a private club match. Sorry for any inconvenience. The Old pool is available for match bookings, For enquires please ring the lodge phone on 01785 282967. The Horseshoe pool which currently has a few trout in has been fishing reasonable. This is an any method Pool which does have coarse fish in it but whilst targeting the coarse fish, you have a chance to hook into a hard fighting Rainbow Trout. Best methods have been float fished corn and pellet up inthe water. A constant feed of pellet is required for plenty of bites, can we please remind anglers the only feed pellets to be used at Seighford must be purchased from the lodge. Hope to see you all down here soon. Tight lines Phil Dixon
