Seighford fishing report
week ending 29/8/10
Trout Fishing.
Fishing has picked up this week on the Trout lakes, new angler to fly fishing Steve Tipper showed the way on the Swan Neck Pool by having his best ever day since taking up his new hobby. The Birmingham based angler took 8 plump Rainbows off the Swan Neck Pool using a floating line and small dry flies fished on top and underneath the surface. Steve's heaviest fish was just shy of 7lb. Fishing couple Chris and Lynda Ector has a cracking evening sport on Saturday night, The pair fished until dark and finished there session with 13 fish between them. Best fish was 6lb 4oz. All fish were taken on floating lines and a variety of flies from buzzers to lures. Best flies this week have been small dries fished either static on the surface if there are plenty of fish rising or retrieved slowly back on a floating line using a figure of eight. Best spots have been Top left corner on the Railway Pool, just waiting for the weed to die back a bit before we can re-stock it properly. And on the Swan Neck Pool. All the way up towards the bridge has fished well. Especially the double peg and 'Jock's Tree'.
Coarse Fishing.
The Old Pool has continued to fish well this week, even with the weather up and down it doesn't seem to have affected the fish from feeding. And it still isn't very peggy, with the entire pool fishing well on all sorts of methods. Peg 16 has fished superb for a number of weeks now. Gaz Cooke certainly had the most impressive fish this week, last Sunday he landed a stunning Bream weighing 8lb 15oz. He caught this specimen two rod lengths out using treble Red maggot. Unfortunately no pictures were taken of the fish but it was safely returned. Dave Powell also had a very impressive fish off peg 4 this time, he swapped and changed between his pole line and method feeder, But found the pole line more effective. His best fish of the day was a 6lb Tench which he took on spicy meat at 12 meters. Nigel Sandbrook caught well off peg 1 using pellet paste on his pole at 4 meters. Nige finished his day with just over 35lb of Carp. His best fish being a stunning 15lb Mirror Carp.
